DECORAH

WALKABOUTS

I have tried to make it a daily/weekly practice to go out for an evening or afternoon walk with my camera, be it my modern Fuji X100VI or one of a number of old film cameras I have. This set of images is just a way for me to practice a version of daily mindfulness; a way to be present and look for moments that bring me joy, interest, or spark curiosity. From the way light strikes a tree swing, to a chair in an alley, a cat peaking through a fence, or a flag on the side of a garage, these moments are often quiet, but full of color and potentially quirky character.

The majority of these image are taken in Decorah, Iowa, but also include surrounding towns in the driftless region of the midwest.
